For those who do not know, TAPS stands for "The Atlantic Paranormal Society". The TAPS group is based out of Rhode Island and has been investigating the paranormal for many years before starting the popular "Ghost Hunters" television show on the SyFy network.
The TAPS family is a collaboration of groups across the United States, Canada, and internationally as well that has proven their dedication, determination, and professionalism in dealing with clients who feel they may have a problem concerning the paranormal. Requirements to be admitted into the TAPS Family are detailed on the following website:

Common misconceptions:
- There are no fees, dues, donations, or any compensation due to become a TAPS family member group. At no point has T.O.P.S ever given, or have been asked to give any type of payment, fee, donation, or compensation for our membership in the TAPS Family.
- There are also no fees, costs, donations, or compensation required for any TAPS family group to investigate any location. As stated on the above requirements website, no TAPS Family group is allowed to charge a fee or ask for any type of compensation for our services. We do all accept freely given donations but these are not required in any way to obtain our services.
- We work for free and do what we do because it's a passion for us.
- TAPS Family groups are not just trying to ride the coat tails of TAPS and/or "Ghost Hunters". As clearly stated on the above website, all TAPS Family applicants must show that they have at least 2 years of proven service to the community, as well as verified recommendations from actual clients. We all have established ourselves well before becoming TAPS family members.
T.O.P.S standpoint on being part of the TAPS Family is simply this. We are extremely proud to be a part of such an experienced and trusted collaboration of groups across the United States, Canada, and abroad. The TAPS Family is a valuable resource to T.O.P.S as it provides us with direct contact to like minded individuals to share ideas, theories, technology, and practices to help better our understanding of the Paranormal. With better understanding, the better we can provide help to those requesting it.
Simply put, we do not define ourselves by our TAPS Family status. We are The Ozarks Paranormal Society first, TAPS family second. We are here to help anyone who requests our services.
